Good evening,
I hope that you all had a lovely half term break. Children seemed to be really excited coming back to school and seeing all the changes that had happened over half term; we’ve moved our library into the middle of school to further inspire children to pick up a book. It has been lovely seeing children relax with a book in this space at lunch time. We’ve also had a piano donated to school by William’s family – we are really thankful for this as a lot of children play the piano and have lessons. It has already been used a lot and we’re excited to inspire many more to play the piano.
Autumn has definitely arrived in Longnor – the leaves are falling and the weather starting to cool. With this, we now have a field that is starting to get muddy: please could children have a pair of wellies in school so that they can play on the field at break.
School Council have decided to introduce House Points to be used every day. This way the children feel more of a team and earn points together, which will finalise on Sports’ Day in the summer. They have decided that everyone can get points for kindness, being respectful and helping others. We hope that children will start to wear their house colour for PE lessons over the year.
Congratulations to our achievers this week:
- Little Owls – Arthur for great listening skills in phonics and Nimrit for offering to help tidy during lunch.
- Kestrels – Evangeline for amazing phonics work and Arthur for trying really hard in phonics.
- Merlins – Esther for excellent maths and doing really well in PE. Rohan and Henri for fantastic problem solving in maths.
- Eagles – Jerry and Frankie for amazing progress in their multiplication methods using factorising. Jess for great manners around school.
Our handwriting heroes are Alice Br, Dom, Darcy, Alice and Ava.
If you are visiting any firework displays this weekend, we hope that you stay safe and enjoy the festivities together. Have a lovely weekend.
