Good evening,
We’ve had a jam-packed week in school! It’s been filled with lots of sports and trips this week!
Eagles went to Theatre Severn on Tuesday for Shropshire’s Bookfest Award Ceremony. This is the only book award voted for by children. Years five and six read the final short list of six books and then vote for their favourite. When we went to Theatre Severn we heard the authors speak and find out the winning book. This year it was Wildlands by Brogen Murphy. There were also prizes for us: Rose won the letter writing competition and Frankie won the poetry competition. Wren won the best art piece for Longnor. It was a brilliant day and such a fantastic event to inspire reading.
Thank you to Ben from Shropshire Cricket who came into school to lead a cricket day on Thursday. We all had a fantastic day learning how to bat and field in the sunshine.
This week we’d like to celebrate the following achievers:
- Little Owls and Tawny Owls – Emily for writing independently and understanding of ‘tall’ and Morven for brilliant understanding in concept cat.
- Kestrels – Darcy for her polite manners, Charlie for being a superstar at swimming and George for wonderful listening.
- Merlins – Amelia for her commitment and dedication to running the miles before the marathon and Harry for excellent focus in maths this week.
- Eagles – Sammy for working incredibly hard across the curriculum, Richard for his mature attitude to editing his work and Max for his fantastic writing.
Our handwriting heroes are Freddie, Iris, Nimrit, Rohan and Jack. Well done to our reading raffle winners this week: Nimrit, Leo, Tess, Rohan, Harry, Camilla and Jess.
Good luck to everyone running in the Schools Half Marathon on Saturday. I hope to see you all as you cross the finishing line!
Have a lovely weekend.
