Scholastic Book Fair

Our Book Fair is arriving this Thursday! Please come into school with your child at 3:20pm on Thursday or Friday to have a browse at what’s on offer. You can pay using a QR code but you will also need your card details.

Feel free to have a look on their website prior to the arrival of our cases; you can even buy the books beforehand.
You can view the books that will be available here:
To pay online, click the parent tab and follow the instructions. Be sure to select Longnor C of E Primary School to earn free books for our school library.
The children will also browse the books during the school day on Friday and will come home with wish lists so we will also ensure that the QR code is on the door by the office in case you don’t have time to pop in. The children will also be able to use their book token from World Book Day at the fair (these will be given out this week).
We are running a competition to design a new front cover for your favourite book and the winners will receive a voucher to spend at the fair. There will be five winners in total so get creative and use your imagination to design a better cover than the original! The children will be coming home with a template but they don’t have to use it. This competition closes on Mon 24th March (please make sure all entries are handed in before 1pm).
Thank you in advance for your support.

Online gaming – Fortnite

Good evening,

We are aware that some children in years five and six are regularly playing Fortnite with their friends online. Unfortunately, a number of students are struggling to differentiate between the online game and playing together on the playground. We have had an increased amount of inappropriate comments being made, which are not age appropriate and are directly linked to the game.

Please could you take time as a family and reflect upon the use of online gaming. There are security settings that can be placed upon Fortnite e.g. you can play with friends without having the chat enabled and you can easily set time restrictions on this game.

Here is a link to further information on Fortnite: What do I need to know about Fortnite? A guide for parents and carers – UK Safer Internet Centre

Thank you.
