Spellings

Dear Parents/Carers,

All children will have brought a list of spellings home. The lists consist of the common exception words that the children should know by the end of the year. Please could you practise these words with your children at home. We will be working on them over the next few weeks in class and we will be having a spelling quiz after half-term.

Your child could practise them by writing them in rainbow colours, making word searches, chalking them outside or cutting them up and putting them back together.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs Jones

Spellings

Dear Parents/Carers,

Firstly, thank you for the cardboard for our models. We will be making a start on London this week. We haven’t received many photographs for our holiday display but it’s not too late so please send some in, if you have any.

Spellings

Your child has been sent home with either a spelling sheet (Yr 1) or a writing mat (Yr 2). Both sheets include the spellings that we will be looking at in school over the next few weeks but it would be very beneficial for your child to practise reading and writing them at home too.

As well as spelling, reading is an essential life skill and we are committed to instill a passion for reading in all children at Longnor. Listening to your child read at home and reading books to them on a regular basis has a profound effect on their development.  Please listen to your child as much as possible, at least four times per week and make a comment in their reading record.

Thank you for your support.

Mrs Jones
