Careers Week – Cuan Wildlife Rescue

As part of Careers Week, Cuan Wildlife Rescue has kindly agreed to visit Little Owls, Kestrels and Eagles classes. As a thank you, we are doing a donation box for the centre. We’re looking for donations of bird seed, pet food or toys, feeders, bird boxes or if preferred a small cash donation. If you would like to make a donation, please bring items to the office any time before Thursday 3rd July.

Many thanks for your support.

Phonics check for year one

Next week year one will complete their phonics check.

We have completed lots of practise checks over the year, so year ones will be very used to the format and the words used. There are approximately 40 words: these are a mixture of real words and made up ‘alien’ words. The children are very good at spotting the alien words! Working with me, they read the words carefully, applying the sounds that they have learnt this year.

We make it an informal activity, within the library. I’m looking forward to working with them to complete this activity and see how good they are at reading now!
