Recorder Lessons

Dear Parents,

Recorder Lessons

We are now able to offer recorder lessons on Tuesday afternoons during school hours to children in Year 2 onwards. Mrs Lewis will be teaching the lessons in groups and they will be free of charge.

The lessons will start on Tuesday 17th October. Places are not limited for recorder lessons as they will be taught in small groups based on your child’s ability.  In order for your child to participate in the recorder lessons they will need to bring in their own recorder and also a copy of the following book:

This book is called “Recorder Playing in Colour – Book 1 for Descant Recorders” by Brian Davey. It can be found on Amazon at the following address: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Recorder-Playing-Colour-Bk-Descant/dp/1898378002

Here is a link to a suggestion for a recorder you could buy for the lessons: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Aulos-205A-Descant-Recorder-Brown/dp/B000NCEQCS

We are really looking forward to promoting music across the school and think this is a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn music and develop new skills. If you would like your child to attend these lessons, please email the school office at admin@longnorschool.co.uk by no later than Monday 16th October.

Year 2 camp

YEAR 2 OVERNIGHT CAMP – Friday 7th July 2023

We would like to invite the Year 2 children to an overnight camp here at school where we will camp in the classroom. We will have an evening meal of pizza, chips, salad and fruit and we will provide cereal or toast for breakfast. Your child can bring a small snack for the evening if they wish. A kit list can be found on the reverse of this letter.

We are asking for a contribution of £3.00 to help cover the cost of the evening meal and breakfast.

If your child has any concerns/issues about bedtime that you think we should be aware of (i.e. bedwetting, night terrors etc.) please could you let us know.

Please send your child into school with all their kit on Friday morning.

Your child will need collecting from school at 9.00am on Saturday 8th July.

Please give consent and pay via ParentPay by Wednesday 5th July at the latest.

Swimming Lessons – Kestrels Class

Please make sure you logon to ParentPay and give your consent for swimming lessons which begin the first week back after Easter. Without consent your child will not be able to go swimming.

Kestrel class performance

Preparations have begun for Kestrel’s Christmas play. We are going to have two performances on Wednesday the 7th December: one at 2:30pm and one at 6pm. This means that we can offer everyone a seat. We’re all looking forward to it!

Class 2 trip

Just a little reminder that class two have their trip tomorrow to the Blue Planet. They will need a packed lunch for the trip. They will be returning to school at the later time of 4:30pm.
