Year 1 & 2
You are going to write a diary entry! We’ve practised these before –
remember?
You can choose which day to write your diary entry on, you could choose one of the days over the weekend, our trip day (Pizza Express & Stokesay Castle) or if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, you could do an imaginary diary entry. Where would you go if you could go anywhere in the world? What did you see there? What did you do? Who did you meet?
Please make your diary entry as interesting to read as possible.
Remember that a diary entry should be chatty, informal and should include thoughts and feelings.
Features of a diary entry:
- Date
- Dear Diary,
- Written in past tense and in first person (I)
- Chronological order
- Events
- Thoughts and feelings
- Appeal to the senses (What did you smell, taste, hear, see etc?)
- Use interesting vocabulary including adjectives, adverbs and similes.
- Sign off
Don’t forget the punctuation, spelling and grammar rules that you’ve been taught.
