Good evening,
Earlier in the week, we headed to St. Mary’s church for our Remembrance service. The church was beautiful: filled with over 5,000 poppies. Thank you to members of the community that took time to decorate the church. We took time to reflect and think about those in Longnor that lost their lives. We learnt about one of those named on the wall of honour: Sergt. Cyril Overton-Davies whose family ran the village shop back in 1935. Above all, we thought about the symbol of the poppy and how it gives us hope for peace in our world. If you would like to find out more about those named on the wall of honour, there are plenty of details and photos on the village history website.
Thank you to everyone that supported our Children in Need day. We had great fun setting up dominoes through school and have donated all the boxes of cereal to the food bank in church Stretton. We raised a total of £100.52 which we split between the High Sheriff of Shropshire’s charity and Children in need.
This week we would like to celebrate the following achievers:
- Little Owls – Morven for helping with gardening, Zach for being polite and holding open the door and Ralph for being a responsible Tawny Owl.
- Kestrels – Jens for showing great resilience, Rebecca for amazing maths and Ellis for his fantastic attitude to learning.
- Merlins – Charlie J for his excellent attitude to learning and Amelia for fantastic English writing and doing extra Spanish at home without being asked!
- Eagles – Mabel for her fantastic SPAG knowledge and Bran for his great start to a newspaper report.
Well done to our handwriting heroes this week: Kit, Marco and Sammy.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
