Good evening,
We hope that you are keeping warm in this chilly weather!
We’ve had a lovely week in school and we have all noticed how focused our children are, especially when learning maths facts and recalling their times tables. Well done to school.
This week, in assemblies, we’ve been thinking about the value of courage. There are lots of people from history that our children have recognised as having courage and standing up for their beliefs even though the situation was tough: Katherine Johnson, Rosa Parkes and Martin Luther King were all mentioned. We’ve all thought about how, when we try something new, we need to be brave and show courage.
On Tuesday, our KS2 cricket teams went to Church Stretton to compete against local schools. They all worked well as a team and improved their skills through the afternoon. I’d especially like to say congratulations to Merlin cricketers who were expecting a football tournament, but had to transfer their skills to cricket due to the icy weather!
On Thursday, our KS2 netball team went to Shrewsbury Sports Village to work with England Netball in a development day. They played lots of warm up games all linked to bees, developing their skills. Then, they played some BEE netball games (this is the new name for Hi Five netball). There were teams from all over Shropshire there. What a fantastic opportunity they had!
What a jampacked week we’ve had! We hope you have a lovely weekend and are ready for another busy week next week.
All the best.
Mrs L. Edgerton
