Good evening,
We have had a very busy week at school with lots of learning going on.
All classes have been working hard at their reading. We launched the Starbooks reward system for reading. Every child receives a stamp on their bookmark when they have read at home three times. When the bookmark is full, we have hot chocolate ready to celebrate.
Reading is the most important element of the primary curriculum. It has been proven that those children that develop a love of reading are able to apply the vocabulary and comprehension skills across the wider curriculum.
- Developing fluency is the key.
- Talk about the words that they come across that might be new and are challenging.
- Try to relate situations to life and the wider world.
We hope that you all are able to dive into a book and share reading out loud. Please fill in reading records and begin filling the bookmarks.
I wish you the best of luck! Happy reading! I can’t wait to hear about the stories and adventures that you explore through the pages of your book.
