Good evening,
In school assemblies this week, we have thought about our new value of respect. To begin we have thought about who we respect and have looked at the lines in this poem, thinking about which lines are important to us:
- Readiness to listen
- Everyone being valued
- Showing appreciation
- Praying for people
- Expressing opinions sensitively
- Caring for our environment
- Treating property carefully
We also had an assembly on D Day and the anniversary of this day. Our school were very respectful and recognised how important it is to be thankful for the peaceful lives that we have today.
We also had our Safer Schools review. Here is a message from Ian Bartlett who led the review:
“Another excellent Safer School meeting at Longnor C. E. Primary School. Safer Schools is a safeguarding, security and safety initiative and as part of the holistic approach, an important aspect is listening to the views of parents/carers and pupils. As previously, Mrs Edgerton had carried out a Safer School survey prior to the meeting. The feedback from this survey was reassuring, informative and useful but overwhelmingly, it was good. Using this information, it will form part of an action plan and it will be reviewed at the next Safer School meeting, already planned for Summer 2025.
At the meeting, we reviewed security/safety and the improvements made since the meeting in 2023. In addition, we reflected on any issues/concerns and planned for the future. It was reassuring to hear that there had been no recorded incidents of security on the school site in the past 12 months. Excellent news.
An updated Safer School certificate was presented to the school in recognition of the school’s responsible approach to security, safety and safeguarding – Congratulations!”
Please continue to use the school site at weekends and in holidays as it is a safe space for children to play; however, please report to the school office should you notice any damage or anything of concern.
Many thanks and we hope that you have a lovely weekend.
Mrs L. Edgerton
