P.E funding is used to promote exercise for at least 30 minutes every day through CPD for teaching staff and lunch time clubs and activities. It has also secured a varied programme of tournaments and activities, in partnership with the Trust-ed Sports Alliance, including dodgeball, football, tag rugby, athletics, netball, inclusion festivals and transition festivals. The funding covers hiring of transport to these events.
We have also used the sports funding to train our young leaders in the Bronze Ambassador certificate. From this, they have led intra-school tournaments for Kestrel and Merlin classes.
For those that need further swimming lessons, we use the sports premium funding to deliver specialist lessons.
P.E funding aims:
- The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – the Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school.
- The profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement.
- Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport.
- Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.
- Increased participation in competitive sport.
