Computing is fundamental in the ever-changing technological world that we live in. Teaching e-safety explicitly is essential. Therefore, at Longnor CE Primary School, we ensure that the strands taken from Education for a connected world are taught across the school and revisited each year. Using the Project Evolve resources, we teach objectives suitable for the age that we teach. Please see the overview of objectives and strands covered this academic year:

Computing skills are integrated into lessons across the curriculum; however, computing knowledge is taught as a separate subject with regular lessons taught sequentially using the Teach Computing scheme of work. We support pupils in the acquisition of knowledge, through the use of key concepts, terms, and vocabulary, providing opportunities to build a shared and consistent understanding. Using project-based learning activities, we provide pupils with the opportunity to apply and consolidate their knowledge and understanding. Children complete a variety of activities to consolidate knowledge and understanding of the function and structure of programs. Regular comprehension activities will help secure understanding and build connections with new knowledge.
