Music
At Longnor CE Primary School, we have an ambitious music curriculum that is progressive in knowledge and skills. We plan for development in musicianship, singing, listening and responding, composing and performing. Opportunities are provided in class, in assembly and through extra-curricular activities to foster enjoyment and talent in music.
Using the Model Music Curriculum, we have designed our own curriculum. For EYFS and key stage one, we use the Sing Up music scheme which progressively builds upon prior knowledge through the use of games and singing. In key stage two, we have used the topic suggestions by Musical Contexts and use these excellent resources to design lessons which progress sequentially. Term by term we track knowledge so that a clear spiral curriculum develops knowledge.

Art
Children are given the opportunity to express themselves through these subjects on a regular basis. Imaginative themes often lead to the use of the outdoors to incorporate the creative arts, with good links to Forest School. We value the imaginative ideas the children have and provide exciting contexts for them to explore them.
At Longnor CE Primary School, we use the Access Art Primary Curriculum to build upon our knowledge and technical skills. It helps children learn through art as well as about art.

Languages – French
Along with the other feeder schools for Church Stretton School, we focus upon French as our foreign language in key stage two. By the end of year six, we aspire that all children:
- Know how to sequence longer phrases in French to form a short paragraph in order to describe things in more detail, using a range of grammatical structures and punctuation.
- Include familiar and new language.
- Ask questions and give opinions.
- Speak with good pronunciation and intonation.
- Know about the culture of France and other countries where they speak French.
Through a rich diet of spoken word, listening, songs, poems, stories and much more we enjoy learning languages together building confidence with a spiral curriculum.
