Our school aims to inspire all children to develop a love of physical activity and sport. Through good physical education, whole school values and a whole child approach, we aim to nurture confident, resilient children who will strive for their personal best. We listen to our children wants and needs and provide them with a range of active experiences and clubs. We want to aid our children in obtaining the values and skills to celebrate and respect the success of others, as well as modestly celebrating their own successes.
We aim to ensure that our delivery of physical education allows all children to have the skills and mindset to leave primary school with the capabilities to be successful in their sporting challenges and active lifestyles at secondary school and beyond. We strive to educate both our children and families to develop a greater understanding on how to live healthy lifestyles and make healthy choices. We are dedicated to ensuring healthy minds, as well as bodies and will continue to support our children’s well-being. We have strong links with local clubs and partnerships within our community to ensure the children and families receive the support and knowledge they need.
At Longnor CE Primary School, we use Get Set 4 PE lesson plans to ensure that we teach a progressive curriculum that is age appropriate and includes all. Please see an overview of planning here:

We take part in a number of inter-school tournaments and festivals such as cross country, multi-sport, dodge ball, hockey, orienteering, rounders, basketball, tag rugby, high fives netball, cricket and swimming. In addition to working with children from other schools, it gives the children experience of competitive sport.
Longnor School has run competitive football teams for both boys and girls for many years. We are currently the Shropshire Small School Boys’ Champions 2022.
We endeavour to provide opportunities in and out of school for children to keep fit and healthy whilst enjoying a range of sports. Currently, we offer dance, football, running as after school sports clubs. Please see the link here for the range of lunch time clubs we are currently running:
At Longnor CE Primary School, we expect every child to be physically literate (demonstrate good knowledge, skills and confidence) and take part in an extra-curricular activity either at school or in a local festival. For the next academic year, we have the following options for tournaments, festivals and competitions. School games calendar 2023_24
