Friday 19th July
Good evening,
As I sit here thinking back over the year, I am amazed by the achievements and how hard everyone has worked. Looking at books and work around school, all children have made excellent progress and look like they’ve been really enjoying their learning.
I’d like to wish our year sixes the very best of luck as they move onto the next chapter in their story. They have been a fantastic group to work with over the years – both at home (in lockdown) and at school. Please keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on at secondary school.
This week we’ve had Merlin class and Little Owls perform their plays. It was obvious how hard children and staff had worked to create a wonderful show. Well done to both classes for their Ancient Egyptian show and The Owl Babies. Thank you for all your support in learning lines and creating costumes.
I hope that you all have a lovely summer break. The office will be closed, but we will monitor the admin@longnorschool.co.uk email should there be any concerns or issues over the holiday.
Stay safe.

School Circle Thanks
As the end of the academic year wraps up, I would like to say a very heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and supported our Summer Fete last Sunday. We raised an incredible amount of £1600 on the day which has helped to boost the total amount that we will be donating to the school in September 2024.
As the saying goes, it takes a village to come together to make this happen and we are very lucky here at Longnor to have such a generous and proactive school community, so thank you to the following:
Alison and Tim Jordan, Emily and Marko Stekic and family, Clare and Dan Baxter-Smith, Sara and Charl Marais and family, Claire and Stuart Brown and family, Katie and Tom Phoenix and family, Ben and Tom MacMillan, Hannah Higgins, Rachel, Chris and Samuel King, Jenny Blackhurst, Cherie Wilkes and her family, Alexis Stone, Alexis and Sam Brookfield, Juliet and James Hurrell, Vicky Reagan, Bethan and Dan Wilson, Caroline Marsden, Clare and Dave Probert, Kate Jones, Lynne, Hannah and Megan James, Rebekah Reynolds, Rebecca Thompson, Laura Christmas, Felicity Kienstra, Bethan Davies, Jess Waller, Andy Beel, Andy Evans, Mike Morris, Neil Price, Mrs Cooper, Mrs Jones, Mrs Lewis and Mrs Edgerton.
Thank you also to those who kindly donated cakes, plants and raffle prizes to help on the day, and a very special thank you to Sophie Beel who raised a brilliant amount with her little stall!
With every end of the year we also have to say our goodbyes to parents and families of year 6’s who have contributed to School Circle over the years, this year we lose our secretary and the incredible organiser of the Duck Race so they are very big shoes to fill!
On behalf of the school community and myself, we wish you all the very best of luck with new starts and new schools in September and thank you very much for all you have done for school and the children, as well as making my time as Chair very enjoyable and supported by putting up with me.

School Circle dates for your diary
School Circle will be hosting a coffee morning on Friday 20th September in the school hall after drop off, this is an informal coffee morning for new and current families to mingle and meet one another as well as get to know what School Circle stands for and does. Please do join us for this lovely event, pre-loved uniforms will also be available to purchase at the event.
Our AGM for the academic year of 2023/2024 will be held on Thursday 26th at 2:45pm in school, attendance to this is very much required by school circle members and those who wish to join. We will be voting for our new Chair and Secretary for the next period as well as planning upcoming events for the year. If you are interested in getting involved this will be the perfect opportunity to come and meet everyone. Refreshments and cakes will be served.
It’s a bit far in advance but pop this date in your calendar! We will hold our annual spooktastic Halloween Disco on Thursday 24th October in the evening so you have plenty of time to get your costumes ready, more details will be shared once School Circle reconvenes in the autumn term.

The Doodle Boy
Today, we were really lucky to have Joe – The Doodle Boy – visit school to show us how he creates his amazing art. We then had a competition in our classes and Joe judged our art. The winners were given one of his brand new t-shirts. Thank you to Phoebe’s family for donating the gifts and giving your time today.
Access to school site over the summer
I have now changed the code to the side gate to 12345 should anyone wish to access the grounds over the half term. I know it is a valuable and safe space to use where children can play over the break. Should you notice anything damaged or concerning, please let us know via admin@longnorschool.co.uk
Gift from year six
In the leavers’ service, I missed a very important presentation. Year six children and parents have donated a lovely gift to school of a buddy bench for those that might not have someone to play with at break time. We had it at the front of the church, but it completely slipped my mind to share it – for that, I’m sorry.
On behalf of year six, Daniel unwrapped the gift and stated that it needs to be under the big oak tree. Therefore, that is what we have done.
Thank you so much to all year six for this lovely gift.
