25th September 2026
Good evening,
This week we have continued to think about the value of ‘Thankfulness’ in assembly. We have thought about those people that support us and help us every day. We have also started to think about Harvest and how we can use this opportunity to say thank you for the food we eat and thank you to the farmers that work hard through the year.
Our Harvest festival is at St. Mary’s Church (Longnor) on Friday 2nd October at 2pm. We hope that you are able to join us to listen to our speakers and join in with our Harvest songs.
Well done to our Y5/6 football teams this week who showed excellent respect and teamwork at the local tournament in Church Stretton. They all improved their skills and started to work together as a team.
Congratulations to Kestrel class for their efforts at cross country. Well done to Zach and Boyd who finished in the top 5 for their races.
This week, we’d like to celebrate the following achievers:
- Little Owls and Tawny Owls: Beatrice for being a kind friend and Albie for super phonics.
- Kestrels: Miles for being a brilliant role model and Charlie for her determination at cross country.
- Merlins: Troy for excellent descriptive writing and Katy for her wonderful positive attitude.
- Eagles: Toby P and Alice H for excellent journalistic writing. Jaxon for brilliant scientific language. Esther for her confidence when working independently in maths.
We have the following handwriting heroes: Mannat, Leo and Tilly J.
We hope that you have a lovely weekend.

School Circle AGM – Thank You and Welcome
A huge thank you to everyone who attended our School Circle AGM last week.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Emily Stekic, Alison Jordan, Charlotte Downes and Alexis Brookfield for all their hard work, time and dedication to School Circle. Their support and commitment have made a real difference to our school community, and we are incredibly grateful for everything they have contributed.
We’re also delighted to share our School Circle committee for the coming year:
- Chair: Jess Waller (continuing in the role)
- Treasurers: Clare Baxter and Lucy Jones
- Secretaries: Caroline Marsden and Rebekah Reynolds
We’re also pleased that Josie Laybourn-Aird has kindly agreed to assist with School Circle newsletter posts throughout the year.
We look forward to another fantastic year of fundraising and community events, and we’d love for more parents and carers to get involved – whether that’s helping at an event, sharing ideas or supporting behind the scenes. Every little bit helps!
Stay & Play – Friday 2nd October

Parking outside school
We have noticed an increasing number of cars parking in the bus layby outside school at drop off and pick up. On a number of recent occasions, the bus drivers have had to ask people to move their cars. Please do not park in any part of the layby outside school between 8.25 – 9.00am and 3.00pm – 3.30pm. During these times this area is for buses only. Please park either in the village hall car park or further down the road away from school. The pavements opposite school should not be used for parking or waiting – parking here makes road crossing hazardous and blocks the pavements for local residents.
Please share this information with wider family who may be dropping off or collecting your child.
We have had a visit from Highways this week to move forward with the 20mph zone and to explore options for parking particularly at the end of the school day.

Cello
Mrs Lewis has donated a three-quarter sized cello to school. If your child is interested in learning the cello, then you can borrow this free of charge whilst a student at Longnor. The size is ideally suitable for a child in Eagle class. Mrs Lewis is happy to give some ‘very’ beginner lessons to get them started.
Please contact the office if you are interested – we only have one so will be a first come, first served situation.
