Friday 7th February
Good evening,
Our focus this term has been perseverance and showing resilience. We’ve thought in depth about what this means and how we need to stick with something even though it might be challenging. As part of this, we have been giving stickers for ‘Be resilient’. We hope that you’ve noticed these at home and are celebrating with us the courage and determination that everyone is demonstrating.

Kestrel class have had a busy week as they travelled to St. Laurence’s Church in Ludlow for a drama workshop. Ms Mullock said that she was really proud of the acting skills shared and the maturity that our year ones and twos demonstrated.
Congratulations to the year three and four dodgeball team today who represented South Shropshire in the County Games in Telford today. They all demonstrated excellent respect and worked hard as a team combined with other schools from across the region. We are very proud of them.
Thank you to all that attended the Lawley Leap meeting on Thursday evening. We are really excited to host a brand new event and know that there is local interest developing. We now plan to share the routes with neighbouring land owners and Parish council representatives and then we will be making places ‘live’, so watch this space and put Sunday 6th July in the diary ready!
Have a lovely weekend.
Mrs L. Edgerton

Shropshire Primary Schools Half Marathon – deadline 10th February

After last year’s success, we are planning to participate in this year’s Shropshire Primary Schools Half Marathon on April 12th 2025 at the West Mid Showground.
The Shropshire Primary Schools Half Marathon gives children aged 4-11 the chance to complete their very own cumulative Half Marathon in a supportive, non-competitive environment. With a Half Marathon representing 13.1 miles, the challenge sees children complete the first 12 miles at school over the course of a term or half term, 1 mile at a time, before running the final 1.1 miles on event day in front of family and friends. The children are treated to a dedicated “full race” experience including race bibs, a marshalled route, music and a start and finish line gantry, allowing them to enjoy and experience the thrill of a big sporting event and to be cheered on as they complete the final leg of their challenge. They receive rewards as they progress through their mileage including a fantastic medal and t-shirt for their efforts. The event is licenced by England Athletics to ensure standards are that which would be expected for any Adults Half Marathon.
The final 1.1 mile event will take place on April 12th at the West Mid Showground in Shrewsbury. Parents will be responsible for taking their child(ren) to and from this event. Mrs Edgerton and Mr Helliker will also be there to greet you and cheer on the children.
The cost of participating in this event is £12 which includes rewards for each stage of the journey:
- After completion of mile 1: Colour my miles trainers chart.
- After completion of mile 6: Reward wristband.
- After completion of mile 12: Technical running t- shirt and bib number for race day.
- After mile 13.1 (Race Day) Finishers medal.

If you wish your child to be registered for this event, please give payment and consent on ParentPay by 10th February 2025. Thank you.
