Friday 10th February

Good evening,

We’ve had a lovely week in school developing our knowledge and creating new memories. Little Owls created an aeroplane today and shared, in assembly, how they were learning through play – some were collecting tickets, others were ensuring that everyone had some fruit for the flight! They all had a part to play and joined in creatively. It was lovely to see some stand up in front of the whole school and share their learning. Well done Little Owls.

In school, we have all been thinking about how we can be an outstanding learner when are learning new and interesting facts. As outstanding learners, we know that we need to revise and retrieve facts regularly to then make links between subjects. We are beginning to think about developing our retrieval skills further and will be talking more about our memory. There is an interesting video created by Kate Jones about memory and the importance of retrieval in learning created for parents and carers, if you are interested click here.

For now though, I hope that you have a lovely weekend. We look forward to seeing you at parents’ evening.

All the best.

Mrs L. Edgerton

Taking time to think about safety

Please think about your safety when picking up and dropping off outside school. We have had reports of a car being left running with children left inside. Please take time to think and ensure all are safe, whilst respecting the Highway Code.

Tuesday night’s club

We don’t seem to have the numbers to sustain running the Tuesday night club as dance, so we would like your thoughts as to which club would be popular. Crossbar coaching are available to run an after school club and have a range of specialisms. If you have a Tuesday night available and are interested in a club, please let me know which would be of interest by filling in this form. https://forms.gle/GcknBWkxbPsXARFC9

Many thanks.

World Book Day

World Book Day is the 2nd March 2023.

We are planning a full day sharing books and exploring stories. If your child would like to dress up as their favourite character, then they are very welcome to! Little Owls are focusing on Julia Donaldson so it would be nice if they could come dressed as one of the characters.

Whole school competitions to be handed in on the 1st March. (Some half term activities!)

Design a new front cover for a Julia Donaldson book.

Gruffalo Bake Off – bake something inspired by the Gruffalo. Here are some ideas:

PE footwear

On a Wednesday, please could Merlin and Eagle class wear footwear suitable for PE. Some have been wearing walking boots, which are not very practical when doing athletics.

Last chance to buy tickets

Last chance to buy your tickets for the Popcorn and PJ Night!

Please purchase them via ParentPay and give consent by Tuesday 14th February.

Despicable Me 3 will be shown during the event.

Many thanks

100 Club Correction
