Friday 10th July
Good evening,
A huge congratulations to everyone who ran/walked/helped with the Lawley Leap. What a brilliant day welcoming many new faces to Longnor through the hike! Sunday took a huge amount of preparation and organisation, so a heart-filled thank you to everyone that volunteered, especially to Claire Baxter and Jess Waller who spent many hours preparing the fete and leap.
Please save the date for the Lawley Leap 2027: Sunday 4th July. If you are able to volunteer to help, especially on the day, we would really appreciate it. We value your feedback, but need more volunteers in order to action points to make next year’s even better!
We had a lovely move up morning on Tuesday. We prepared some lovely activities in our new classes and enjoyed getting to know our new teachers.
Well done to Eagle class for a fabulous play. They all worked incredibly hard to make the audience laugh and certainly achieved this! It was hilarious! Everyone had a part to play and it was definitely a team effort. Thank you to everyone who came to watch – we loved hearing your comments and enjoyed making you laugh.
This week, for achievers, we would like to celebrate every Longnor student that completed the Lawley Leap. We are especially impressed by those from Little Owls and Tawny Owls that completed the leap:
- Short route: Zac, Iris, Evie H, Isla, Hattie, Khalil, Yahya, Henri, Henry, Florence, Charlie, Freddie, Jens, Hunter, Owen, Dom, Boyd, Jack, Frankie D, Oliver, Rebecca, Evie BW, Ellis, Matea, Joel, Matilda, Esther, Hettie, Amelia, Rupert, Alice B, Molly, Darcy, Alfred, Alice H, Sean, Etienne, Frankie S
- Long route: Richard and Ozzy.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and manage to stay cool in this heat wave.
Mrs L. Edgerton
Menu next week
Next week there may be some changes to the menu.
Wednesday will now be quiche, Thursday will be fish and chips and Friday will be pizza.
There may be other alterations too to ensure minimum food waste as we head into the summer holidays.
Thank you for your understanding.
Class structure next year
We had a fabulous move up morning, welcoming new faces to our school and moving into our new classes. We would like to share the new structure for teaching staff in preparation for September:
- Little Owls and Tawny Owls – Mrs Jones
- with Mrs Cooper, Mrs Offland, Mrs Russell, Mrs Patterson, Mrs Manning and Mrs Downes
- Kestrels – Mrs Phillips and Ms Horsfall
- Mrs Slater, Mrs Russell and Mrs Patterson
- Merlins – Mr Helliker
- Ms Yates, Mrs Matthews and Mrs Offland
- Eagles – Miss Logan (y5 in the morning and whole class in the afternoon) and Mrs Edgerton (y6 in the morning)
- Mrs Evans and Mrs Buckland
We have Mr Nagy teaching PE to KS2 and Mrs Lawrence teaching Spanish to KS2 on a Tuesday.
Miss Logan
We are delighted to announce that the governors and I have appointed Miss Logan to lead teaching in Eagle class for the remainder of Miss Lewis’s maternity leave. She met the class on Tuesday morning and is excited to get to know the whole community in the next few months.
Ms Mullock
Ms Mullock has been on secondment as head of school in Newcastle Upon Clun. She has shared that she misses all of Longnor: the children, the staff and the community. She would like to share that she has been offered the permanent position in Newcastle and, as much as it saddens her to leave Longnor, she feels that is where she can make a difference to the whole school.
We will certainly miss her, but know that she’ll keep in touch. We may even do a joint project with her school soon.
Good luck, Ms Mullock!
School Circle Meeting – Monday 13th July
All parents and carers are warmly invited to join us for an End of Year School Circle Meeting at school on Monday 13th July at 2.30pm.
It will be a great opportunity to reflect on the events of the school year, share ideas for the upcoming academic year, celebrate our achievements and mark the end of term together.
We look forward to seeing those who are able to attend!
Thank you!
School Circle have just purchased three 8 man tents for school. We are really excited and can’t wait to use them at Eagle class camp and for every year four camp in the future. Thank you so much everyone!
Summer Fete and Lawley Leap Thanks!
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported the Lawley Leap and Summer Fete. It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the day and helping to make it such a fantastic community event.
Thank you to all of our volunteers who gave their time before and during the event. Whether you helped with planning, setting up, running stalls, organising competitions, or clearing away afterwards, your support was greatly appreciated. Events like this are only possible because of the time and effort so many people give.
A very special thank you goes to Clare Baxter, whose hard work and dedication in organising the event made it such a success. We would also like to thank Jess Waller, our School Circle Chair, for her support and leadership, as well as everyone who contributed behind the scenes.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part in making the day such a memorable one!
June 100 Club Winners
Thank you to everyone who supports the 100 Club fundraiser!
1st Mr and Mrs Dixon, number 23 (£25)
2nd Sheena Bell, number 64 (£10)
3rd Katie Bell, number 74 (£5)
Numbers were drawn independently by a member of School Circle. Many thanks for your continued support.
Head lice
Our ‘little friends’ are back! Please could you check your child’s hair as we have had a few cases in school. If your child has long hair it may be advisable to tie it back when at school.
The advice form the school nurse is to use conditioner and a special metal comb. Every 3rd day cover the head in conditioner and comb the hair paying particular attention to the crown, behind the ears and the nape of the neck. Rinse with fresh water. This should be repeated every 3rd day for 2 weeks then once a week.
