Good evening,
What a fabulous wee we’ve had in school!
Firstly, a huge thank you to our wonderful catering team, Mrs Sidoli, Mrs Beeton, all the TAs, teachers and admin staff that helped with Christmas dinner on Wednesday. It was absolutely delicious. A lot of hard work and preparation meant that all had a fantastic, memorable meal together with friends. Thank you to everyone.
Second, thank you to everyone who helped with Wellness Wednesday. It was a lovely afternoon filled with lovely activities. Having the opportunity for all year groups to work together is really special. From cooking and craft to forest school, there was something for everyone.
We also need to thank School Circle for organising the PJ and pizza night. It was great to see so many of school there. Thank you to all that helped organise this.
For those that were able to join us for the KS1 and EYFS nativity, I’m sure you’ll agree how special it was to see our younger children perform the Christmas story. They all showed great confidence standing on stage in front of a packed school hall. Thank you to all the staff that made this possible and thank you to parents for helping with lines and costumes.
We’d like to celebrate the following achievers this week:
- Little Owls and Tawny Owls: Ellyann for great work in phonics, Iris for being a superstar in the nativity play and Zach for looking after the classroom without being asked.
- Kestrels: Tess for brilliant participation in the drama workshop and Matea for fantastic reading this week.
- Merlins: Tilly for a wonderful, positive attitude and Molly for taking her time with presentation and accuracy.
- Eagles: Wren for being a responsible member of the class and Toby for always listening carefully and working hard.
Our handwriting heroes this week are Khalil, Florence, Molly, Oscar and Jerry.
We all hope to see you at the tractor run in Church Stretton on Thursday night and for our carol service at St. Mary’s Church on Friday at 2pm.

Drama Workshops
Yesterday we had a wonderful visit from West End in Schools who put on drama workshops for Kestrels, Merlins and Eagles. The children has lots of very noisy fun completing activities linked to the poem The Night Before Christmas. Thank you so much to the School Circle who kindly funded this fantastic event!
Tractor Run – Colouring Competition
We’re excited to announce our festive Tractor Run Colouring Competition!
Today (Friday 12th December), children in Little Owls, Tawny Owls and Kestrels will be bringing home a special colouring sheet. Merlins and Eagles are invited to get creative and design their own decorated tractor.
Please return all entries on or before Friday 19th December, along with a £1 entry fee. Judging will take place that morning, and there will be a delightfully chocolatey prize for the winner in each year group. (If your child requires an alternative to chocolate, just let us know and we’ll be happy to arrange one.)
We can’t wait to see the wonderful designs our pupils create!
Tractor Run – Raffle Prize Donations
There’s still time to drop off any raffle prize donations before this years Tractor Run! We’re hoping to put together a fantastic raffle to help raise funds for the school. If you’re able to donate a prize – big or small – we would be incredibly grateful!
Prizes can be anything from gift items to vouchers, and we also welcome donated services (in previous years we’ve even had things like a boiler service kindly offered!).
If you’d like to contribute, please drop your donation off at the school office before 18th December.

Helpers needed – Little Owls
If anyone has any time on Tuesday at 1.30pm to help prepare the Little Owls play area for the AstroTurf installation we would be very grateful. Many thanks.
Richard Parkes Memorial Tractor Run
Hi All.
School circle are at the Richard Parkes Memorial Tractor Run on this Thursday (18th December) Cardingmill Valley. We will be raising money for school and the British Heart Foundation.
We will be selling amazing pies (from the Baxter-Smith family) and hot drinks from 4pm just before the entrance hut in Cardingmill.
Tractors will leave at 6pm to drive slowly around Church Stretton followed by bucket shakers and raffle ticket sellers.
Parking will be limited up the valley as we are expecting a maximum of 100 tractors.
If the bucket shakers would prefer to meet the tractors in the town or have a single spot to shake a bucket on to save a lot of walking, that’s great too! There will be buckets available after school Wednesday / Thursday. If you would like one please let me know. We have a limited number of adults and children’s hi vis jackets available to borrow and if you have a torch it might be useful.
Raffle tickets will be available before and after school Wednesday and Thursday or you can drop money in to the office.

Christmas Dinner
Huge thanks to Alexandra and Harriet for cooking an absolutely delicious Christmas Dinner yesterday for 107 hungry mouths! The children enjoyed turkey and pigs in blankets or vegetarian sausage with roast potatoes, parsnips, sprouts, carrots, gravy, bread sauce and cranberry sauce plus an incredible chocolate roulade for pudding. We are very lucky to have such talented chefs working for us.
Christmas Parties
On Wednesday 17th December, the school staff along with School Circle will be putting on Christmas parties in the afternoon for the whole school. The children can come to school in their party outfits – this would save getting changed during the day.

Mince Pie Stall
Mince pie stall – Thursday at 3.15pm. If your child goes on the bus, you can send them with 50p for a mince pie. Thanks.
