Donations of clothes and textiles needed!
Longnor School Circle arranges two ‘Bags2School’ collections each year to help raise funds for school.
We need your donations of unwanted clothes, shoes, linens, curtains, accessories etc. to help with this.
Collection dates – Friday 12th and Monday 15th May.
We will have a collection point in the Village Hall car park at drop off and pick up times on both of these days. Please do not take bags into school as space is limited.
Just bag your items up in any bag you have (or pick one up from the school office), tie the top to stop items getting soiled in transit and pass them to a member of School Circle at the collection point.
If you can get friends, family and neighbours involved too it can make a big difference to the amount we raise!
If you can’t make the collection dates but have items you’d like to donate, please get in touch with School Circle via the office and we may be able to collect.
Please see below for a list of items that are accepted by the scheme. Many thanks.

School Circle Meeting – next Friday
Please come along next Friday 19th May at 3.30pm to help shape and plan the next Longnor Summer Fair.
This is a fantastic, social event and big fundraiser for the school but it takes a lot of hands and minds to make it work!
Please spare a bit of time ahead of school pick up to contribute to the planning of this year’s event – let’s make it bigger and better than ever! If you can’t make it but would like to take part, please let the office know and we’ll arrange for a Teams invite to be circulated.
Children can be popped into Night Owls for a short time if the meeting over runs.
We look forward to seeing you there.

Supporting our Marathon runner!
Hello everyone, In April and May, I am running 2 marathons to raise money for the amazing work that Hope House children’s hospices do with families in Shropshire, helping them and their children in their greatest moment of need.
Every year since 2010, I have entered the London Marathon ballot and I had grown used to the letter/email telling me that I was one of the hundreds of thousands that did not get allocated a place. However, due to perhaps dumb luck, I got in this year and successfully completed the london marathon a couple of weeks ago, in 3h 59m. Three weeks on, I am running the Leeds Marathon this Sunday to complete my ‘double’.
I really believe in the work that Hope House do and hope you will support me in raising money for this fantastic charity. If you could donate anything, it would be wonderful and spur me on this hilly course. Thanks, Daniel Wilson, (Longnor parent and governor.)
Safer Schools
Safer School initiative
The Safer School initiative is a school security initiative that encompasses personal safety. It was created by West Mercia Police and with the support of Shropshire Council, virtually all Shropshire schools are following the process.
The initiative is a practical and realistic risk management approach to the security/safety of school staff, pupils, property and the premises. Following the satisfactory completion of the process, schools receive the Safer School accreditation, and this accreditation is reviewed every two years. No two schools are the same and therefore, it is site specific to individual schools. The process involves a Safer School meeting, with representatives of the school following a comprehensive package. Safer School meetings are held annually, and parents/carers are informed of progress through newsletters.
The essential elements of the package are as follows: –
1. Implement basic security measures applicable at all schools i.e. property marking, and visitor passes etc.
2. Consider pro-active security/safety measures for the site/building and protecting assets.
3. Establish a procedure for recording incidents i.e. anti social behaviour, vandalism etc. Any recorded information can then be analysed. In addition, the same recording procedure can be used for surveying a problem i.e. an unauthorised thoroughfare.
4. If there are any projects to be undertaken, they are prioritised. Following the implementation of a project, the success of it is reviewed.
5. PSHE or education of pupils as per the Safer School pack.
As part of the process, the school would appreciate your views. Please could you complete the attached survey and forward any particular views/concerns, including any positive observations. These will be reviewed at a forthcoming Safer School meeting. The focus of the survey is the school grounds/site. If any parents/carers are interested to view the Safer School package, they are welcome to visit the school. https://forms.gle/DiwySvXeiJFuA4WH8
Lost property!
There will be a table with lost property at the front of the school at pick up time on Monday, if you would like to have a quick look.
