Friday 12th September

Good evening,

We have had a really busy week in school, getting settled into learning and thinking about the year ahead. We have thought about the British Value of Democracy as we have set up our school councils by voting and being fair. We are ready to meet as new committees next week and ready to make a difference. Well done to everyone who has taken on a job. For those that didn’t get a job this time, we have plenty of clubs to lead and other opportunities this year, so watch this space! Here are our committees:

  • School council: Ava, Pippa, Mabel, Wren, Meriam, Adelaide, Floss, Oliver, Annie and Zach (meeting Mrs Edgerton on a Monday afternoon)
  • Librarians: Mabel, Camilla, Betsy, Charlie J, Charlie H, Matea and Leo (meeting Mrs Jones on a Friday lunchtime)
  • Eco-committee: Darcy, Camilla, Owen, Emily, Rohan, Ellis, Jacob, Iris and Kit (meeting Mrs Lewis on a Tuesday morning)
  • Soul team: Ella, Neve, Owen, Sia, Florence, Jack and Frankie (meeting Mrs Edgerton on a Tuesday afternoon)
  • Sports leaders: Sammy, Jack, Frankie, Ella, Oscar and Jerry (meeting with Mr Helliker)

Next week, we will meet for the first time. I will also ask children to think about setting up clubs for the term. Please chat at home and find out whether there are any keen club leaders in your family that would like to lead a club. Mrs Phillips will help them set up their clubs next week.

We are excited to hear about the children’s ideas for the year ahead.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs L. Edgerton

Birthday celebrations

You have all been very generous with bringing in gifts/sweets/cakes when children have had birthdays. However, we are aware that some families feel uncomfortable about this. Therefore, instead of gifts being sent in, please could we offer a treat for their birthday:

When your child has a birthday, we would like to invite them to wear own clothes for the day instead. If their birthday falls on a weekend or over a holiday, they can choose either to wear own clothes on the Friday or Monday before or after.

Water bottles

Having a water bottle in school is really important. Please could you make sure that water bottles only have water and not squash. This is important particularly in school as spillages of squash are quite sticky.

Many thanks.

Start of Year Forms

Please could any outstanding start of year forms be handed back to the office and completed online as soon as possible. This is especially urgent for Kestrels class – if we do not have your child’s Parental Consent for School Trips form, they will be unable to attend the Cross Country trip next week.

Here is the QR code for the online forms. Please let the office know if you have not received / require duplicates of the paper forms.

Thank you for your support.

100 Club Renewals Reminder

Just a reminder that if you would like to renew your 100 club number, we need to know by Monday 15th please. Thank you.

School Circle AGM

This year’s Annual General Meeting will take place on Friday 19th September at 2.30pm in school. Please join us if you can to find out the many ways in which you can support School Circle and raise funds for the school in the coming academic year. School Circle can only continue with your support. Without School Circle events, we will be unable to provide school funding. If anyone is interested or needs more information, please reach out to Tina Aljan or Sue Bryant for more information. We look forward to welcoming volunteers new and old!

Dates for the Diary – Autumn Term

PE kit – watch this space!

I mentioned to the children in assembly earlier that we are slowly (over the next couple of years) going to change over to a new PE kit top. We would like to have more intra-school competitions so would like to use our houses more. For this, we would like children to wear their house colour for PE. We will have these tops available through the School Shop ASAP. We will share their houses with you next week when the link goes live.

We recognise that everyone already has new PE kit, so we would only like you to consider changing when children move up a size or need a new top. Please don’t go out and buy new kit straight away.

Labelling clothing

Please label every item of clothing: we often have a large amount of lost property and could return items to owners if they are labelled.

Many thanks.
