Friday 13th June
Good evening,
Linked to the Longnor Flower Festival, we have had a whole-school art project in school inspired by the church.
We have had a range of different pieces inspired by our beautiful church building to create a range of artistic pieces. Our younger students, in Little Owls and Kestrels, have been sketching St Mary’s church and have enjoyed using watercolours. Kestrels really enjoyed exploring the church in detail and using their photography skills to capture the wonderful elements of this historic building.
Our older students have thought about children who may have visited the church through history. Merlins have looked at historic school records and have incorporated pages from the 1800s into their sketches of St Mary’s church. Eagle class have looked in detail at the children who were evacuated during WW2 to Longnor and attended Longnor CE Primary school. They have created some abstract pieces of art incorporating the names of some of the evacuees.
Our art will be displayed in the church this weekend.
Congratulations to those recognised in our achievement assembly this week:
- Hunter – great attitude to learning.
- Boyd – really responsible and taking care of the environment.
- Ellis – Exceptional listening skills.
- Frankie – Excellent listening in gymnastics.
- Skye – being really responsible.
- Barnaby – for showing excellent leadership skills.
- Charlie D – for great resilience in maths.
- Rupert, Darcy and Mabel – for wondering art pieces.
- Safiya – amazing push and glides in swimming.
- Owen – fantastic maths reasoning.
- All of year four – for working hard in their multiplication checks.
- All of year one – for their excellent attitude to their phonics checks.
Well done to all!
Ms Mullock has some exciting news too! She is missing Longnor deeply, but she has decided that she would like to extend her secondment placement at Newcastle-Upon-Clun primary school until August 2026 (the full academic year). She has some projects that she would like to continue and has found that a term isn’t quite long enough. We will miss Ms Mullock, but we wish her the best of luck and know that we’ll hear lots from her over the year.
Therefore, we will be appointing a teacher for the year to teach Kestrels. We hope that Kestrel class will help us make the decision and take part in the interview process. We will keep you updated as soon as we know further information.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Mrs L. Edgerton

Sports Day
Sports Day
Next Wednesday 18th June is our annual sports day.
The event will begin at 9.10am and will last for approximately 2 hours . Pupils will take part in a variety of team and individual races and activities.
Pupils will compete for one of the four school houses and we would like them to wear a t-shirt of the corresponding colour for the day.
House Colour
Caradoc – Red
Lawley – Green
Mynd – Yellow
Ragleth – Blue
Pupils have been told of their individual houses, and colours and house lists have been placed on the relevant Seesaw / tapestry pages.
Pupils can wear their PE kit with coloured shirt to school for the day. They may wish to pack a spare t-shirt in case they get too hot and sweaty in the morning.
Pupils will also require a drinks bottle, hat and sunscreen (hopefully!).
Lawley Leap – 6th July

Careers Week – Cuan Wildlife Rescue
As part of Careers Week, Cuan Wildlife Rescue has kindly agreed to visit Little Owls, Kestrels and Eagles classes. As a thank you, we are doing a donation box for the centre. We’re looking for donations of bird seed, pet food or toys, feeders, bird boxes or if preferred a small cash donation. If you would like to make a donation, please bring items to the office any time before Thursday 3rd July.
Many thanks for your support.
Donations Needed!
We are 3 weeks away from the Lawley Leap/mini fete and desperately need donations for the event. We are expecting lots of out of school visitors to the event who will be waiting round for those participating in the Leap, so we would like to have lots of things to do and buy to raise as much money as possible.
Please can you spare the following and send them in by Friday 4th July:
- Plants for the plant stall
- Jolly Jam Jars
- Teddies/soft toys for the tombola
- Unopened bottles of booze
- Raffle prizes
We had a few volunteers sign up already to help on the day, thank you very much to those who have done so, but we still have a few gaps to fill. There will be a sign up sheet available during registration for sports day morning where you can pick your slots then.
Alternatively please message us on the school circle Whats App if you have any questions.
