Friday 18th July
Good evening,
As the year draws to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support over the year.
First, I’d like to thank the staff team at Longnor. We are very lucky to have a dedicated team that goes above and beyond to offer learning experiences and care for the children of Longnor. They are often here late into the evening and share such positivity through the school.
Next, I’d like to thank the children of Longnor. They have all worked hard and tried their best. One of the strengths of our school, in my opinion, is the way that the children develop personally: whether that be through leading clubs, taking on a role or supporting each other in their learning. I believe our children are an asset to our community.
Thanks also goes to the School Circle who have arranged some fantastic events for our school this year and raised a significant amount of money for the school. This year your donations have gone towards subsidising class swimming sessions – paying for a swimming teacher to support lessons. They have also paid for two large dining tables for our hall: this has made school dinner service a lot easier, so we are really thankful for these. Thank you to all of you.
To those that volunteer each week to listen to readers or help on school trips, without you, we would struggle to offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Thank you for taking times to support us. We really appreciate it.
Then, finally, thank you for the support that you as parents and carers give to the school and children. We are a team and working together must remain a priority to support each individual.
Best of luck to our year six. They have been a fabulous year group to work with. Each individual has grown and flourished here and we wish them the very best as they continue their education at secondary school. We hope that they stay in touch and let us know how they are getting on.
For now though, I would like to wish you the very best. Have a lovely, safe summer holiday.
Mrs L. Edgerton

Wellness Wednesday
What a success our first Wellness Wednesday was! One of the pupils said that this afternoon ‘felt like Christmas’ and another said ‘I liked it so much that I didn’t even go out to play’.
We had a wide variety of workshops on offer and everything went very smoothly. The staff mentioned that it was lovely to see the older children supporting the younger ones and that all of their behaviour was exceptional. Walking around school, it was clear to see that all pupils were fully engaged and there was a strong sense of calm although the areas were filled with joy and smiles.
We hope to hold more wellness events next year and if you feel that you could run a workshop or support us with this in any way, please do get in touch.
Reading books – Tawny Owls and Kestrels
We have collected phonics reading books from Tawny Owls and Kestrels. In their book bags, they have fluency books that they could enjoy with you at home. If you are in Church Stretton and have the time, the library has a summer reading challenge that would be great to challenge summer reading.
School uniform
Moving forwards, for practical reasons, we would like to offer a slight change of school uniform regarding footwear. Some children find trainers more comfortable through the day. We are happy to include trainers in our school uniform policy as long as they are black. This pair of trainers can also be worn for PE kit.
Message from School Circle Chair
As we reach the end of another school year, the School Circle team would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to every parent, carer, teacher, and staff member who supported us throughout the year.
It hasn’t been without its challenges – we’ve felt the impact of fewer volunteers, which has made it harder at times to get things off the ground. However, true to our school community’s spirit, we pulled together time and again to make it all happen.
This year, we introduced new fundraising ideas such as Lambing Bingo, supported the Christmas Tractor Run and continued to run our regular events, which remain firm favourites with the children. The smiles, laughter, and memories made remind us why we do what we do.
Our most recent (and biggest!) Lawley Leap event really highlighted the importance of team effort. Every little bit of help — whether it was baking a cake, setting up a stall, or just lending a hand on the day — made a difference. It was a powerful reminder that many hands make light work, and we are truly grateful to everyone who pitched in, however big or small.
I would like to give a special mention and thank you to Tina, who has been tireless in her efforts to conjure up support, organise events and keep the School Circle team organised and running.
Looking ahead, we hope to grow our team with new families joining us in September and continue creating fun, memorable experiences for the children while raising valuable funds for our school.
Thank you again for being part of this journey — we couldn’t do it without you.
Wishing you all a restful and joyful summer break!
Sue Bryant
School Circle Leavers Thanks
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and wishes to year 6 leavers and their families for their support with school circle over the years. We have been incredibly fortunate to have so many enthusiastic members within our community who have contributed so much to past events.
Special thanks also goes to the Beedles family, those with older children in school will have had the experiences of forest school afternoons at Beedles’ woods, as well as other parents who I’ve no doubt, have countless pictures of their children enjoying the their ponies at the summer fetes. These are the memories that makes Longnor a special place for our children.
So we wish you all the very best of luck with your new starts in September, and thank you again for being a part of our little community.
