Friday 18th September
Good evening,
We’ve had a busy week in school, thinking about those that help us and making sure that we say thank you. It has been lovely taking time to say thank you – I do wonder whether anyone at home has been thanked!
Congratulations to the new members of our committees. We’ve had our first meetings and are really excited for the year ahead:
- Our school council listens to the views of the school and promotes whole school aims: Rose, Darcy M, Molly, Ellyann, Phillip, Beatrice, Joel, Nancy-Lou, George and Darcy W.
- Our SOUL (speak out loud) team concern themselves with the safety of others around school – they listen to the whole school through surveys and support those that may need them. This is our safeguarding board: Jaxon, Tilly, Albi, Rebecca, Miles and Evangeline.
- Our eco-committee inspires others to look after our environment for the future: Neve, Harry, Rohan, Frankie, Alice B and Boyd.
- Our sports leaders promote health and wellbeing across school. They run sports events and have training to see how to further develop their leadership skills: Richard, Etienne, Alice H, Pippa, Max and Darcy M .
- Our librarians organise library time and promote a love of reading by setting up whole school challenges: Camilla, Ben, Charlie D and Evie.
- Our assembly leaders help organise the hall for assembly and help lead worship: Neve, Darcy, Tilly, Sia, Molly, Betsy, Pippa, Alice H, Amelia and Camilla.
It is lovely to celebrate these achievers this week:
- Little Owls and Tawny Owls: Felicity for fantastic listening and brilliant drawing and Lottie for being creative and making a brilliant spider
- Kestrels: Annie for trying hard with her writing and Zachary for his super focus and being a role model.
- Merlins: James for wonderful homework and effort and Neve for helping Little Owls in the morning.
- Eagles: Bran for excellent interpretation in reading, Esther for fantastic use of sounds when reading, Rupert for his focused work and Darcy for supporting others and always being kind.
Well done to our handwriting heroes this week: Jack, Freddie and Matilda.
We hope that you have a lovely weekend.
Mrs L. Edgerton
Parking outside school
We have noticed an increasing number of cars parking in the bus layby outside school at drop off and pick up. On a number of recent occasions, the bus drivers have had to ask people to move their cars. Please do not park in any part of the layby outside school between 8.25 – 9.00am and 3.00pm – 3.30pm. During these times this area is for buses only. Please park either in the village hall car park or further down the road away from school. The pavements opposite school should not be used for parking or waiting – parking here makes road crossing hazardous and blocks the pavements for local residents.
Please share this information with wider family who may be dropping off or collecting your child.
We have had a visit from Highways this week to move forward with the 20mph zone and to explore options for parking particularly at the end of the school day.
Mobile phone free zone
Our school building is a mobile phone free zone. Please switch off your mobile when entering the building or leave it with office staff where it will be securely placed in the safe.
Many thanks.
