Friday 19th September

Good evening,

We have had a wonderful, jam-packed week in school!

Kestrels went to Cardingmill Valley on Thursday morning for their cross country races. They all ran the short course around the valley with smiles all the way around. They were a fantastic team and supported each other all the way to the finish line. Congratulations to Evie, Jack and Boyd who were placed in the top five of their races. Well done to them!

We have had our first debating session in school all about school dinners. The children are working hard at using their oracy sentence stems to formalise their discussions all the way from pre-school to year six. This initiative is led by school council who will look at the suggestions in their meeting on Monday and see whether they can make a difference. We look forward to hearing what the pupils have shared this week!

In assembly on a Friday, we have commenced our achievement celebrations. This week we are celebrating with:

  • Billy for fantastic use of sentence stems in oracy.
  • Joel for his consistent hard work across everything he does.
  • Harry for his positive attitude towards work.
  • Charlie D for his mature attitude to learning with a real ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Jess for a fantastic attitude to learning.
  • Alice H for always setting a good example to her peers.

This year we are focused upon handwriting and have a ‘handwriting hero’ award each week. They get to choose a new pen or special pencil to use in class or take home. This week we have Khalil, Tess, Tilly, Ella and Frankie who are our handwriting heroes. We look forward to seeing their handwriting on the displays around school. I wonder who will be the handwriting heroes next week?!

Next week, Merlins head to Cardingmill Valley. We all hope that they enjoy the event just as much as Kestrels did.

Have a lovely weekend.
