Friday 21st April

Good evening,

I hope this finds you well and that you had a lovely Easter holiday.

We have had a busy week in school and have focused upon our new assembly focus as the value of service. Within assembly, we thought about the talents that we have and how we can share our talents to support others. Part of this is the setting up of clubs and we have a new range of clubs that are being led by our students at lunch times:

We would also like to welcome Mrs Beel to work in our office as an administrator. She has worked in a school previously as a teacher and support member of staff, so we are excited to have her work with us to support the daily running of the school.

I hope to see you at the Easter egg hunt on Sunday.

All the best.

Non Uniform Day – Monday 24th April

Hannah in Merlins Class has organised a non uniform day to raise money for the World Wildlife Fund. Your child may come in to school in their own clothes on Monday with a suggested donation of £1.

Emergency Alert

Please see the information below about the new government emergency phone alert system that is being tested on Sunday 23rd April.

Rearranged Egg Hunt – this Sunday!

Don’t forget to come and join us for our Spring Egg Hunt this Sunday 1:30pm-3pm.  There are 2 courses available for KS1 & KS2, and children outside of school are very welcome.

Duck Race Sunday 21st May

We have a month to go before our annual Longnor Duck Race and need volunteers to help out on the day for various stalls and positions.  If you are able to do so, please can you either let School Circle know on the WhatsApp group or pass on your details via reception.

Thanks in advance for helping to make these fundraising events a success.

Longnor School Coronation Tea Towels

The children have been very busy creating self portraits of themselves to go onto a special commemorative tea towel for this Coronation year.

The ParentPay link to pre-order these is now live (£5.00 per tea towel).  Once we have received your order, the items will be sent home in book bags on Friday 5th May.  Please get your orders in early as we only have a limited amount available.

Striking and Fielding Club

We have a new after school club on Wednesdays for children in year 1 and above.  This club gives children an opportunity to learn rounders, baseball, softball and cricket. The club is run by Trusted Sports Partnership and costs £5 per session. Please let the office know if you would like your child to attend.

Gardening club

Gardening club had a lovely session in the sunshine this week. The children made friends with these helpful residents as they weeded the vegetable beds. The soil is now ready for them to start planting some carrots, peas and beans in the next few weeks.

If your child wishes to join them, gardening club is held on a Thursday lunchtime.

Class 3 PE Change

Class 3 will now be doing additional PE on a Monday instead of a Tuesday. Please can you make sure your child brings in suitable shoes for PE on Mondays. Thank you.

New Menu

Our new lunch menu is now in place. Menus were handed to children at the end of last term. If you have not received your menu, please pop into the office to collect one.

Little Owls – people who help us

Little Owls would really like a dentist, vet, and doctor/nurse/paramedic to come into school and tell us about how they help us. If you know someone who is willing to come into school for an hour, please can you pass on their details or ask them to get in touch please.

Thank you.
