What a fantastic week we’ve had in school this week! Thank you to everyone for your support. It was lovely seeing so many people at sports day, so thank you if you were able to join us.
Tonight, we have the tents up in school ready for our camp and some very excited year four students. All adults are hopeful for a good night’s sleep!
The end of term is fast approaching, so have a lovely, safe weekend and we’ll see you on Monday and Tuesday for the last two days of the year.
All the best.
Mrs L. Edgerton
Well done to everyone who took part in this years sports day. There was such an amazing effort from everyone involved. Well done to Mynd for finishing in 1st place. Winning is not all that matters: respect, sportsmanship and teamwork was seen from all houses. Thank you for joining us for the day.

2nd – Caradoc
3rd – Lawley
4th – Ragleth
Well done to Merlins class for walking from school to the top of the Lawley and back again on Monday this week – almost 6 miles in total. They had a wonderful day with pretty perfect weather for such a long excursion. Thank you to all the staff and parent volunteers who attended.
Well done to our wonderful Little Owls for their fantastic performance of Penguins Save the World on Wednesday afternoon. Well done to Mrs Hughes, Mrs Russell and Mrs Offland for all their hard work.
As we approach the end of the academic year, could we please ask that you settle any arrears outstanding on your ParentPay accounts. We would appreciate if you would give this your immediate attention.
Please complete your child’s end of day arrangements for September by Sunday 3rd September 2023.
Please note: we are offering two new clubs this year: Gymnastics on a Monday and Invasion on a Wednesday. Invasion is a mixture of rugby, football, netball, basketball.
Additionally, Friday Night Club is now open to nursery children.
If you kindly had a 100 Club number this year you should by now have received your renewal slip via your child’s book bag.
Please help us complete our end of year admin by returning the forms as soon as possible on receipt. If you’re leaving the school and no longer wish to renew, please still return the form to confirm so that we can free up your number(s) for other people.
Please remember that 100 Club is open to friends and family of Longnor School too so why not consider asking others if they’d like to get involved. New numbers will be available soon!
Many thanks for your help.
School Circle are in need of a Treasurer for next school year to support our fundraising activities.
You don’t need any prior skills or qualifications, you just need to be enthusiastic to help keep records of our fundraising activities; arrange floats for events/activities, and help with general banking admin.
It is an essential role that we need to fill so if you or a family member could help, we’d really appreciate it. We’d be happy to chat to you in more detail.
If you feel you could help, please get in touch with School Circle via the school office or the School Circle Whats App group.
After 7 years and as my second child moves on to Secondary school I have decided to step down as Governor of Longnor School. It has been a real privilege and genuine pleasure to contribute to supporting the school, particularly through many interesting yet challenging times. The governors are an amazingly dedicated team of people who are all incredibly passionate about Longnor, working in the role of ‘critical friend’ to represent the whole school community’s interests. I have really enjoyed the insight into the behind the scenes running of the school and the opportunity to have an impact. I will really miss being part of this amazingly friendly and supportive team.
Being a governor is a brilliant way to use and develop your skills whilst giving something back. While it is a job to take seriously it certainly is very manageable and extremely rewarding. If you are interested in finding out more about being a Governor I’d be happy to chat to you – please let the school office know!
Today our catering staff put on a special Year 6 leavers school dinner. It was a real treat and Year 6 enjoyed having a nice meal together. Thank you to Claire and Carol.
For Year 6 parents/grandparents wishing to attend, the Year 6 leavers assembly will be this Tuesday 25th at 2pm in the school hall.
You can get up to £500 every 3 months (up to £2,000 a year) for each of your children to help with the costs of childcare. This goes up to £1,000 every 3 months if a child is disabled (up to £4,000 a year).
If you get Tax-Free Childcare, you’ll set up an online childcare account for your child. For every £8 you pay into this account, the government will pay in £2 to use to pay your provider.
You can use your tax free childcare account to pay for all wraparound care, including clubs.
