Friday 23rd May

Good evening,

What a busy week we’ve had!

Merlin and Kestrels had a brilliant day at Chester Zoo. Thank you to all adults that made this possible. Well done to all children as they were all ambassadors for our school throughout a very tiring day: they asked fantastic questions and found out lots about the animals.

Little Owls and Tawny Owls had a lovely day at the Small Breeds Park Farm. They saw lots of owls there and know a lot more about owls than me!

In assembly this week, we’ve continued to think about our value of Service. We thought about offering help with ‘no strings attached’ and what that means.

Our new achievement assembly started this week. We’d like to celebrate these individuals this week:

  • Leo for amazing writing.
  • Joel for trying hard in art.
  • Millie for joining in with enthusiasm during her music tracing session.
  • Katy for fabulous maths.
  • Skye for encouraging her friends who were nervous when swimming.
  • Evie for a huge improvement in her swimming.
  • Sia for moving up a group in swimming.
  • Esther for her incredible writing.
  • Jack for his excellent attitude to learning using independent strategies.
  • Hannah and Nancy for being fantastic ambassadors in sport and friendship.
  • Sean for always being polite and thankful to Mrs Sidoli.
  • Conrad for his excellent leadership in assembly.
  • Oliver for always being polite and a tidy up star in Night Owls.
  • Mrs Buckland for being a brilliant swimming teacher and leading the ‘best lesson of my life’ according to a year three!

Congratulations to all!

Have a lovely half term. We look forward to seeing you on Monday 2nd June.

Mrs L. Edgerton

Our new achievement assembly

We have introduced a new assembly on a Friday, in which we celebrate individuals that have achieved over the week.

We would like to invite children to bring in certificates/medals/awards/achievements from outside of school that we can celebrate in this assembly too. If they wouldn’t mind handing these into the office to go into an achievement box, we will hand these back to them in assembly on a Friday.

Summer Popcorn and PJ Party

Tickets are now available on ParentPay. £6.00 per child which includes a hot dog, popcorn and drink. On screen entertainment will be provided and will run for approximately 1.5 hours.

Children can be left under our supervision, nursery children and younger siblings are also welcome to attend but will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult for the duration.

Mats will be set up in the hall but you are welcome to bring your own cushions and beanbags, PJ’s are optional but fun!

Lawley Leap Volunteers

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered so far for helping on the day with the Leap, we are still short of around 5 people to marshal the actual course. The majority of it will be self checking but we still need a few people dotted along the course on certain points to ensure safety and completion. If you are interested or need any more information please let Tina Aljan know.

We also need a handful of volunteers to man stalls during our mini fete, so far we are running:

  • BBQ stall
  • Cake/Refreshment stand
  • Raffles table
  • Teddy Tombola
  • Bouncy castle

If you have a preference for a stall please let me know asap, otherwise it’ll be the covetable task of getting mobbed on the Teddy Tombola stall!

Safety around dogs

Locally, there has been an increase in the number of dog bites. Please take care to share this with your friends and families:

Message from Shropshire LA about community hubs

What are community hubs?

Shropshire’s community hubs are vibrant spaces at the heart of local communities, designed to enrich the lives of local people.

More than just buildings, community hubs bring together the community, health and voluntary sectors so that residents can access services and activities that empower them to live their best lives.

You can find a wide range of activities and support services in Shropshire’s community hubs, including early help for families, domestic abuse support, help to stop smoking, information about housing and much more, for all ages. Use the links below to find out what’s on offer in a hub near you.
