Friday 26th September
Good evening,
What a fantastic week we’ve had!
A huge thank you goes to Jens’ dad who came in on Wednesday morning to show us how he juices apples. We were all able to put the apples into the grinder and then he turned them into juice. It was delicious to taste. What a wonderful experience!

Well done to all of Merlin class for running in their cross country. We heard that you were a great team and supported each other positively. Well done to those who finished in the top ten: Lucy, Molly, Tilly, Matilda, Rohan, Charlie J and Sean.
Congratulations to our achievers this week:
- Morven for showing independence and helping others.
- Hunter for his fabulous number formation.
- Sia for her wonderful attitude across all subjects.
- Rupert for making a huge effort in writing – much improved presentation.
- Jack, Jerry, Safiya and Frankie for being excellent ambassadors for Longnor during bikeability.
We also have our handwriting heroes this week:
This week our lunch time leaders have planned their clubs. We are looking forward to getting these running next week. Thank you for supporting them at home with their plans and ideas.
We all hope that you have a lovely weekend.
Mrs L. Edgerton
School Council
Dear parents,
We are the school council and we are excited to show you what we are planning to do.
This week we have been thinking about school dinners. We have a few ideas and we may have a chance to try new foods such as soup instead of jacket potatoes. Watch this space as we work with Mrs Sidoli!
Harvest Festival – Friday 3rd October at 2pm
Please come and join us for the Harvest Festival next Friday afternoon. If you would like your child to bring a food donation for the food bank, please send it into school on the 3rd October. If you would like other family members and friends can come and watch.
Children in Need – 14th November 2025
This year we have a brand new idea for children in need day: you can come in your own clothes (bringing a suggested donation of a £1 please). We would also like you to bring in a box of cereal. We would like to make a massive dominoes throughout the school using the cereals. We will then take the boxes to the food bank in Church Stretton. We hope that you like this idea and that it will be good fun.
We will share our proceeds this year 50/50 with the High Sheriff of Shropshire’s Youth Awareness charity. The money for that will go directly to the children of Shropshire.
Yours sincerely,
The school council (Ava, Wren, Mabel, Pippa, Adelaide, Meriam, Oliver, Floss, Zach and Annie)
End of Day Form for October
Please complete your child’s October end of day form by Monday 29th September to allow me time to process the form.
It is helpful for us if all families complete this form – even if your child is pick up every day.

Learning behaviours
This week we have introduced the ‘Be Positive’ part of our learning behaviours tree. In assembly, we thought about how it is important to face challenges with a positive attitude and realise that we can’t always get the right answer straight away. We have been busy giving out stickers this week, so hopefully you’ve managed to spot these!

Message from outgoing Chair
School Circle held our annual AGM last Friday, and it was well attended – thank you all who made it. As many of you know, I have stepped down from the role of Chair. Jess Waller has volunteered to take on this role, and was voted in. A big thank you from me goes to Jess for volunteering.
We have also had a change of secretary as Zara has stepped down. Rebekah Reynolds was voted in, and will be working with Alexis. I would like to thank Zara for all her help over the last year, and wish her all the best.
And last but definitely not least, thank you to Alison, Emily and Alexis, for continuing in your roles to help make School Circle a success, Tina for organising everyone, and everyone else who has helped at events over the last year.
Your School Circle committee is now:
Chair – Jess Waller
Treasurers – Alison Jordan and Emily Stekic
Secretaries – Alexis Brookfield and Rebekah Reynolds
There are some great events coming up – watch this space for more details!
