Friday 27th January

Good evening,

We’ve had another very busy week in school with all classes focused upon their learning. Topics are inspiring learning and children are sharing interesting facts. I’ve had some older children enthusiastically sharing information about Mount Everest and Sutton Hoo. I’m certainly learning from them!

We have continued to think about perseverance as our value this week. In assembly, we listened to the story of Jeremiah the prophet and about how he didn’t give up sharing God’s message. Thinking about this, we thought about how we should set goals for ourselves and whichever hurdles we have to face, we show determination.

Have a lovely weekend and stay safe.

Thank you!

NEU strike

School will open doors for all children on Wednesday of next week. We have some teachers striking, but have enough adults in school to maintain care for all. Curriculum may be disrupted for the day (as recognised by the DfE) but the whole school will remain open.

Popcorn and PJ evening

Parents’ evening – save the date

We will have our formal parents’ evening on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th February. We will send out a link for appointments next week.

Congratulations to the tag rugby team

We had a brilliant tournament at Church Stretton School on Tuesday afternoon. Throughout the afternoon, everyone worked hard and played some excellent rugby. After coming top of our pool, we went onto the play offs and came third in the whole tournament! Well done to everyone who played!

Forest School

The outside areas are very muddy at the moment, so a change of shoes (wellies) is essential to join in forest school. Please could these be sent into school on forest school days:

  • Little Owls – Mondays
  • Kestrels – Thursdays
  • Merlins – Wednesdays
  • Eagles – Wednesdays

Welcome to the team

We’d like to welcome Mrs Emily Stekic to the team at Longnor as our new school administrator. We are looking forward to her starting in the second half of the spring term.

New BEAM sessions

Understanding your child workshops / courses

There are lots of interesting courses free of charge to Shropshire families that encourage us, as adults, to think about the development of our children. They use the Solihull Approach and are very interesting. Please use this link and code DARWIN18 to sign up free of charge:
