Friday 3rd March 2023
Good evening,
This week we’ve had some fantastic, memorable moments in our learning especially on World Book Day. Thank you to everyone for the effort that you went to in preparing costumes and joining in with the competitions. We were all really impressed. What a fantastic day we had sharing books and completing fun activities linked to Julia Donaldson books.
The newsletter, this week, has some important messages including changes to staffing. Please share these with children and speak with us if your child has any worries – we will do our best to support them in any way that we can.
For now though, have a lovely and safe weekend.
All the best.

Charity Walk / Run – 10th March
On Friday 10th March, all years from one to six have been invited to Cardingmill Valley, Church Stretton, to run / walk raising money for Red Nose Day.
There are two courses that children can choose between – a 3km or 1km route. Children can either walk or jog their way around. The whole route is marshalled by the National Trust ensuring safety and assistance along the way.
Children will need to wear suitable clothing for exercise, suitable footwear and a water bottle. As it is Red Nose Day, you could get into the spirit of the event by wearing something red! (Come to school for the day in red clothes.)
A coach will collect the children at 9:30am and we will return to school for lunch.
There is a Just Giving fundraiser page that has been set up. If you can give a little to support our charity event then that would be much appreciated:

We are asking for a voluntary contribution toward the cost of the coach of £2.60. Please give consent for your child to attend the trip and make payment via ParentPay

Kestrel Class and Mrs Jones
Unfortunately, Mrs Jones has been diagnosed with a breast cancer recurrence. She is currently awaiting a surgery date and has been informed that she will require further treatment. At the moment, she’d like you to know that she is feeling very well and positive in herself. She will be attending some appointments and will require some time off in the near future, but will do all that she can to ensure that your children’s education remain as normal as possible.
Ms Jackson and Mrs May
After ongoing illnesses, Ms. Jackson and Mrs May will be leaving Longnor at Easter.
Ms. Jackson has been a valued member of the Longnor community for almost 23 years. She has led learning for many and inspired artists, nature enthusiasts and mathematicians, so we have much to thank her for! We hope that she continues to recover from her operation and is feeling better. We wish her the very best in her next steps.
Mrs May has been a valued member of the team and Merlin class over the past few years. She has led learning with a specific interest in science and art. We’d like to thank her for all her hard work and wish her the very best.
We are collecting for a leaving present. Should you wish to make a donation please leave this at the office.

We have had a brilliant day today, full of books, costumes and excitement!
