Friday 5th May
Good evening,
What a fantastic week we’ve had at Longnor!
Thank you so much to all of the School Circle that helped with our coronation tea party this afternoon. We all managed to sit outside together, sing the national anthem and enjoy a lovely afternoon tea party. There have been many coronation activities through school today – lots of crowns were made, poems written and some Longnor students took time to think about what they would do if they were King/Queen.
Year six have a busy week ahead of them next week: they have their SATs. They have all worked incredibly hard, so we all wish them the best of luck. Remember year six, these are only quizzes of your maths, reading and grammar, they do not test you on how amazing you are at football, dance, drama, computing etc. You all have individual talents that need to be celebrated. Don’t worry about next week, just do your best.
We all hope that you have a lovely long weekend and enjoy the coronation festivities.
All the best.
Mrs L. Edgerton
Merlins’ Play
Well done to Merlins Class for their brilliant performance of ‘What a Night’ on Thursday evening. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful jokes, creative costumes and superb acting. We are very proud of all our Merlins for their hard work and dedication.
Duck Race – volunteers needed
If you’re able to volunteer to set up, support on the day or pack away the Duck Race event on Sun 21st May, please let School Circle know.
You can drop us a message on the School Circle What’s App group (ask the school office for details of how to join if you’re not already on it!) or you can pass your details to the office and someone from School Circle will get in touch. Many thanks.

School Coronation Tea Towel
Reminder:
Tea towels designed by the children have now been delivered and have been sent home if you have placed an order.
If you are still hoping to place an order please do so ASAP as we have limited numbers available. They will also be on display at the end of each school day to purchase, so please bring cash if you are not placing your order via ParentPay. Many thanks

Changes in staffing for September
We would like to welcome Mr M. Helliker to the Longnor team as the Merlin class teacher. He currently teaches year four in Shrewsbury and has interests in maths and PE.
Mrs Hughes has been at Longnor for many years and has supported many children in their learning. She has been instrumental in setting up the Little Owls Preschool and supported whole school leadership of the school in the past few years. However, at the end of this academic year, we will be wishing her the very best of luck as she sets off on her new adventure beginning pursuing a new career. I’m sure you’ll join me in expressing our thanks and wishing her the very best in her next steps.
Our teachers have used this opportunity to further their experience and have requested that they move classes:
- Little Owls will be taught by Mrs Jones.
- Kestrels will be taught by Ms Mullock.
- Merlins will be taught by Mr Helliker.
- Eagles will have a new teacher.
Therefore, please see the job advertisement for the Eagle class position. We will be interviewing before half term.
Choral Day Consent Form (year 3 only)
Please could you give consent for your child to attend next week’s choral day. We need to confirm numbers as soon as possible. Thank you.
Missing goggles
Matilda J in class two has misplaced her goggles after swimming this week. They are pink and orange and should have MJ on. Please could you check your swimming bags to see if they have been picked up by accident. Many thanks.
Desk Giveaway!
We have 11 desks that are no longer needed. They are 110cm x 76cm. If you would like any of them, please let the office know. We would like them picked up by the end of next week.
