Friday 6th June

Good evening,

I trust that you have all had a lovely week – we have in Longnor!

Our new term has started with a new value of focus. We’ve thought about ‘Truthfulness’ in our assemblies. This week we thought about the importance of seeing and hearing the whole story so that we understand the full picture. We used images on Explorify (STEM) to try to work out the images to think about the importance of seeing the whole picture.

We’ve also thought about our new learning behaviour of ‘Be Courageous’. Together, we thought about what it means to be courageous in our learning. We thought it meant:

  • Not giving up
  • Using resources to help ourselves if we’re stuck
  • Challenging ourselves to complete tricky work

Well done to those that were recognised in achievement assembly this week:

  • Little Owls:
    • Jack for his brilliant writing about his holiday.
    • Ellyann for writing her name carefully.
    • Miles for his brilliant maths.
  • Kestrels:
    • Zach for showing wonderful respect.
    • Rohan for using fantastic sentence openers.
    • James for making excellent progress in his maths and English.
  • Merlins:
    • Toby E for his fantastic progress in swimming.
    • Betsy for her positive approach to all learning.
  • Eagles:
    • Ava-May for excellent perseverance in her arithmetic.
    • Polly for her amazing writing using exciting sentences.
    • A thank you to Hannah and Megan for making individual bracelets for Little Owls.
  • Miss Arthur for creating fantastic inspiring activities for Kestrels.

We hope that you all have a lovely weekend.

Dates for the diary – Summer Term

Relationship and Sex Education

Please see the attached letter that was sent out on Monday. Lessons will commence next week.

RHSE Letter 25

Parents have the right to withdraw their children from the sex education element of the curriculum, but not the relationship, science or health education curriculum. The DfE have produced a leaflet for parents “understanding relationship and health education in your child’s school: primary”  www.gov.uk .

If you have any concerns about the programme for your child, we are available to discuss these and the implications of withdrawal with you.  We can also highlight resources and books so that you can discuss these important issues with your child.

Please see our school website for the knowledge overview for RSE.

Lawley Leap Volunteers

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered so far for helping on the day with the Leap, we are still short of around 5 people to marshal the actual course. The majority of it will be self checking but we still need a few people dotted along the course on certain points to ensure safety and completion. If you are interested or need any more information please let Tina Aljan know.

We also need a handful of volunteers to man stalls during our mini fete, so far we are running:

  • BBQ stall
  • Cake/Refreshment stand
  • Raffles table
  • Teddy Tombola
  • Bouncy castle

If you have a preference for a stall please let me know asap, otherwise it’ll be the covetable task of getting mobbed on the Teddy Tombola stall!
