Friday 9th June

This week has been incredibly busy. I’d like to begin by saying a huge thank you for your support at the moment. Teachers have been busy planning exciting learning opportunities and classes are heading off on trips, enjoying activities linked to topics in the local area.

Congratulations to the year 3 and 4 children who attended the paralympic festival at Church Stretton School on Tuesday. There were lots of activities to try including boccia, archery and new aged kurling. We were very proud of our team work and managed to win both 1st and 3rd place.

I’d also like to say a huge thank you to the team of key stage two students who were hosts to Revd Fiona, the Archdeacon of Ludlow. They were ambassadors for our school demonstrating excellent manners and making our hosts feel really welcome.

Thursday night was great fun at Night Owls this week. It was filled with different sports activities. There was tennis, basketball and we even got the parachute out!

There are hot temperatures forecast for the week ahead. Please think about packing sensible clothing (including a sun hat), a water bottle and putting sun screen on for the day. Thank you.

Have a lovely, safe weekend.

Mrs L. Edgerton

Hot temperatures

As the temperature looks to stay hot this week, please remember to dress and prepare for the weather, including:

  • Packing a water bottle. Some children like to freeze a bottle of water the night before and then it will defrost nicely through the day.
  • A sun hat for break times.
  • Sun screen put on in the morning before school please.

Thank you!

Summer Fete – 2nd July 2023

It is that time of year again and with less than a month to go, we are getting ready to organise the Longnor School Summer Fete which will be held in conjunction with the Longnor Flower Festival this year on Sunday 2nd July. With hopes that it will be a bigger and better event building on from last year, we do need help from parents, children and the wider Longnor School community members.

So far we have the following stalls/games planned for the fete:

Refreshments, BBQ, tuck stall, plant stall, teddy tombola stall, jolly jam jars stall, stocks game, splat the rat game, boat racing game, preloved uniforms stall, glitter tattoos stall, guess the baby game, inflatables, raffles and a home section competition. We also have planned entertainment for the day from a local band and performances by the children.

To ensure that the day is a success, can you help with any of the following?

  • Volunteering on the day – we are asking for volunteers on a rotation basis to cover a stall or game for an hour only, older children are also very welcome to man a games stall
  • Helping with the set up and take down
  • Donating items for the raffle – we are running a general raffle which has always been very generously supported with gifts and prizes, a ‘Barrow of Booze’ raffle and a Teddy Tombola
  • Making and donating Jolly Jam Jars
  • Making cakes/bakes to donate for the refreshment stall
  • Suggest and/or take on a new stall

If you are able to, please leave a message on the School Circle WhatsApp group with your availability or preference.  If you are not on the WhatsApp group there will be a sign up sheet in school reception for you to leave your details.

Thank you in advance for all your support with this. It is our last big School Circle event of the academic year and we would love to go all out hosting this event where we can celebrate the hard work that the children, staff, parents and wider Longnor school community have done in this year.

Kind regards

Tina Aljan, School Circle Chair
