Newsletter – Tuesday 25th July
Good evening,
Another fantastic year has come to a close and as we head home ready for a long deserved summer break, there are some people that I’d like to thank:
Thank you and good luck to our year sixes. Each of you have made fantastic progress, worked hard and achieved your best. We are proud of each and every one of you. Good luck on your next adventure. We wish you the best of luck.
Mrs Hughes, we would like to thank you for the impact that you have had on Longnor school community. You have taught many of our young people and they have been inspired from your hard work and enthusiasm. Good luck in your new career.
Mrs Hall, thank you for all your support in teaching and supporting individuals through the whole school. Your hard work has been much appreciated. I know that Merlin class will miss you. Good luck in your next teaching role.
To all those that have volunteered over the past year, I’d like to thank you: governors, those that come in to school to listen to readers, those that have helped on school trips, club leaders, swimming teachers, the Beedles family, the list is endless. I’d like to thank you all for all your support over the years. A special thank you to Jo Bullock, Becky Thomas and Tom Corbett, who are stepping down as governors this year. Please keep in touch.
For now, I’d like to wish you all a restful, safe and lovely summer holiday.
All the best.
Mrs L. Edgerton
New start time from September 2023
To keep in line with new guidance, we need to increase the length of our school day.
From September 2023 our start time will be 8.45am, with the gates opening from 8.35am.
Registration will be at 8:50am. For students arriving after 9am they will receive a late mark.
Early birds will still be available from 7.45am and will have new pricing to reflect the changes.
Changes to Forest School
From September, we will be making some changes to our Forest School sessions.
For children in Merlins and Eagles classes, Forest School will be delivered on site for one hour a week, plus two full afternoon visits to Beedles Wood per half term.
For children in Little Owls and Kestrels, Forest School will continue to be delivered on site.
Children will no longer be asked to come into school in their Forest School kit. Instead, children will need waterproof trousers, a waterproof coat and sturdy shoes or wellington boots, which they will need onsite all week (bring into school on a Monday and take home on a Friday). For Forest school, children will put waterproof clothing on top of either school uniform of PE kit. Without proper clothing, children will be unable to participate.
School Grounds Access
All members of Longnor community are welcome to use the school grounds at their own risk. Please use the following code to access the side gate. Please get in contact with a member of staff should you notice any issues that need addressing.
If you wish to access the school grounds in the holidays, please use the code: 123456
First Day Back
Please be aware that Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th September are PD days.
Term begins for children on Wednesday 6th July.
Office Hours
Please note the school office is now closed for the summer. The emails will be checked weekly over the summer and urgent matters will receive responses. Lisa, Emily and Lucy would like to wish all families a lovely summer.
Pencil Cases
Children are asked not to bring pencil cases to school in September. All stationery will be provided by school. The only exception would be blue ink fountain pens for the older students.
Thank you for your support.
End of Day form for September
Please complete your child’s end of day arrangements for September by Sunday 3rd September 2023.
Please note: we are offering two new clubs next term: Gymnastics on a Monday and Invasion on a Wednesday. Invasion is a mixture of rugby, football, netball, basketball.
Additionally, Friday Night Club is now open to nursery children.
