The Great Veg Battle by Joe Burke

One cold winter’s night, four carrots awoke once more from their long summer’s sleep. Their house was an astonishing gingerbread house decorated with the finest of all sweets. The temperature was -6 degrees: it was as bitter as the North Pole. Kevin, who now has two kids and a wife, was really pleased about their outstanding house. Whilst Katie, Kevin’s wife, was putting the kids to bed, Kevin went out to see some friends.

While Kevin was out, Katie was cooking her tea. Just then, as she tipped the spaghetti into the bowl there came a knock on the door. Katie went right over to the front door to have a look who it was. As soon as she opened the door, a load of leaping leeks appeared from absolutely nowhere; they charged in like bees swarming its hive. Katie new exactly what they wanted, they wanted the secret recipe…

Kevin was still out and Katie was really concerned about him. The leeks could not find the recipe, Kevin must have had it with him. The leaping leaks had caught the kids Kale and Karl and they wanted Katie as well. Kevin was having a whale of a time at his mates it was a blast. They played the Pringle it is where you put a Pringle on the floor and you have to eat the Pringle on the floor with only two points of your body touching the floor.

Katie – who was locked up – is really anxious about what is going to happen to her house, her husband and her kids. Kevin finally got in from his mates and he saw that nobody was in, he knew what had happened. The leaping leaks. He knew he had to come up with an ingenious plan to stop them. The good thing was that Kevin had the profession to embarrass the whole group of leaping leaks.

So while Kevin was thinking of his plan, Katie was trying to get some sleep. The kids were already asleep though. Kevin had got his drawing board and his pencil and began to think up his master plan. Finally, Kevin was nearly finished. His plan was to go in the drains of the leaping leeks fortress, after that, he would try and take on the two guards that were blocking the entrance to the immense fortress. Finally, he would create a fire on the other side of the palace so all the guards would rush over to put the fire out. Then he would come face to face with the king of the leaping leeks.

Eventually he was in the drain, he ran down the sewer and then won the fight with the guards. After that, he set the fire up and then he was ready he was ready to face the leaping leak. He tricked the leek to lock himself up in a cage he was face to face with his wife. Eventually, he returned to his amazing house with his wife and they finally had their  Christmas sleep.
