Welcome Back
Good evening,
It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself as your new head teacher of Longnor CE Primary School. Taking on the responsibility of leading learning at Longnor and being part of an outstanding team is an honour. The positive, happy ethos of the school is inspirational and I am excited to be part of this community, so thank you for your warm welcome.
Having taught all years within the primary school, I recognise the importance of creating memorable experiences and challenging our youngsters. Learning not only takes place in the classroom, but through outdoor and extra-curricular activities. Using my specialisms of music, PE, computing and English, I am looking forward to creating opportunities for all to succeed.
With the new term about to start, there are a few messages that we’d appreciate you reading in preparation and we have updated the Covid Risk Assessment to the school website for your information.
I’m looking forward to meeting you in the morning.
All the best.
Mrs Lisa Edgerton
Arriving at school in the morning
We will continue to use different entrances in the morning:
- Class one through the ‘Little Owls’ gate
- Class 2 through the gate to the side of the hall and in through the back door of the classroom.
- Class 3 and 4 – go through the gate to the side of the hall and in through the back door
Gates will be opening at 8:45am until 9am.
Should you be running late please come through main reception as the gates will be locked at 9am.
Early Birds
‘Early Birds’ will be running as normal in the morning.
Preparing for the weather
With autumn weather unpredictable, please take time to consider appropriate clothing for the weather:
- Should we have warmer weather, please ensure that sun screen has been applied and that sun hats are worn.
- We will be using the outdoor areas as much as possible and ventilating rooms throughout the day; therefore, please could you ensure that, should the weather turn colder, adequate clothing be worn.
Water bottles
Each child needs a water bottle (ideally with a sports cap to minimise spillages). Drinking water regularly throughout the day is incredibly important.
Please remember to only fill with water.
Healthy snack
Getting back into a long day at school may need some getting used to after the holidays. A snack at break time is a great idea! Please make sure that you choose a healthy snack – preferably fruit.
Key stage one will have a piece of fruit provided.
Forest School
Forest school days for this term are as follows:
* Class one – Tuesday
* Class two – Friday (starting next week)
* Class three – Wednesday
* Class four – Thursday
Remember to come into school dressed in appropriate clothing and please pack a change of shoes.
PE kit
Please remember to pack your PE kit on a Monday and leave them in school for the week (taking them home on a Friday).
